Things you need to know before and after registration:

1. Confirm that your devices and surroundings meet the requirements

Before registering for the test, please confirm that your computer and your second electronic device, software configuration, internet, and room meet the test requirements:

Very important notice: For you to take the test and for the proctors to see and watch over it during the whole test, you will need to provide 2 different devices. One is a device (your computer is recommended) for yourself to log in to software to actually take the test, and the other one (choice of your phone, tablet, or your other computer) for the proctors to see you during the whole test). These two devices must be powered on at all times during the test. But the device for proctoring must be on “airplane mode” and connected to Wi-Fi.

  1. Computer (for you to actually take the test): Windows (7/10) operating system, recommended screen resolution setting is 1440*900 and above (the minimum setting is 1366*768 and above)

  2. Your other electronic device (for proctoring): choice of your phone, tablet or your other computer, but your phone is recommended. This device must be powered on at all times during the test, but must be on “airplane mode” and connected to Wi-Fi, without access to any messages or phone calls.

Please Note: Zoom (videoconference platform) will be used for us to proctor the test. You must download Zoom or make sure you have access to it on your “device for proctoring”. If you do not have access to Zoom, please figure it out ASAP. You will need to join a conference room via Zoom on your “device for proctoring”. You are recommended to join at least 30 minutes before the test starts, so the proctors will have enough time to check your ID and information, and you will have enough time to test your internet, camera, and headphones and then log in. You must place your device on your left rear or right rear side and make sure it’s about 3 to 4 feet from you, so the proctors will be able to see your computer screen, the desk, and yourself from your back. The Zoom link will be sent to you later, normally you do NOT need to have a Zoom account to join a Zoom conference.

(1) You will be asked to show the proctors a of your surroundings the room where you take the test. You will also be asked to show your ID for registration.

(2) You will need to connect your “device for proctoring” (probably your mobile phone) to put it on "".

(3) Your “device for proctoring”/mobile phone will need to be to ensure that the proctors will be able to see you. If it’s powered off by accident, you will be asked to pause, and continue whenever your device is back on again, but you will not be given extra time or a make-up test.

(3) Software: Download and install the client software of Online Chinese Test (Home Edition)
on your computer (windows 7/10 and the latest version of Google Chrome) for you to actually log in and take the test (not for the proctors to see you during the test).

Link to downloading the software:https://test.chinesetest.cn:36165/client.html (see picture below). You might need to try different browsers to make sure you are able to download it successfully (Google Chrome is recomended).
